KITTY HAWK, N.C.—A 50-year-old Franklin man was arrested Friday at his vacation home in Kitty Hawk, N.C., and charged with two counts of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

North Carolina media outlets are reporting that authorities arrested Robert Bryan Pearce Sr. following a two-month investigation by detectives with several agencies in both North Carolina and Virginia, including the Franklin City Police Department.

Pearce was reportedly the subject of an online sexual predator sting operation where detectives in Alamance County, N.C., had posed as an underage girl and chatted with Pearce.

The charges were filed against Pearce in Alamance County.

Authorities searched Pearce’s residence in the city and discovered that he was at his vacation home in Kitty Hawk. Police in the resort community executed a search warrant on Pearce’s vacation home with the assistance of Franklin police and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.

Pearce was taken into custody at his vacation home in Kitty Hawk and immediately transported to the Alamance County Jail. He was released on $20,000 bond.
