Ponder-Harris

The marriage of Megan Rebecca Ponder, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. Michael Ponder of Franklin, to Alistar Roger Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Harris of Kylemore, South Africa, took place at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Tuckahoe Plantation in Richmond.
The Rev. Sharon Elizabeth James officiated.
The wedding reception was held on the Tuckahoe Plantation property.
The bride is the paternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Floyd Ponder and the maternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Wilson Hurley.
The groom is the paternal grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Williams and the maternal grandson of Jane Rhode of Kylemore, South Africa, and the late Gert Rhode.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Her maid of honor was Kylee Ruth Ponder, the bride’s sister.
Bridesmaids were Saona Chapman Jackson of Houston, Alicia Harris Luiters of Kuilsriver, South Africa, Kristen Habicht Nichols of Baltimore and Meredith Price Powell of Arlington.
Jennifer Michelle Pollard and Julia Caroline Pollard, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J. Michael Pollard of Suffolk, were flower girls.
Thomas Daniel Cousins of Cape Town, South Africa, was the best man.
Groomsmen were Daniel Joseph Lombana of Goochland; Quinton Morgan Luiters of Kuilsriver; Evan Wilson Ponder, brother of the bride, of Franklin; and Duncan Marcel Souchon of Cape Town.
Readers included Kristen Elizabeth Emerson of Richmond and Mrs. Brooks Rainey Pearson of Durham, N.C.
Soloists included J. Michael Pollard of Suffolk accompanied on the guitar by Jeffrey G. Fox of Lexington, Ky., and Duncan Marcel Souchon, accompanying himself on the guitar.
Instrumental music during the ceremony and before the reception was provided by Hot Seat, a bluegrass ensemble.
The mistresses of ceremonies were Sheila Houser Barnes of Florence, S.C., and Susan Womack Powell of Franklin.
A luncheon for the bride and her attendants was hosted by Jennifer Carter Stephenson and Rebecca Britt Stephenson at Feathernesters Tea Room in Richmond.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride’s parents at Origins Farm in Hanover.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of the Jepson School of Leadership Studies of the University of Richmond.
The groom is a graduate of the University of Cape Town’s School of Business.
The couple resides in Hanover, owning and operating Origins Farm and will take a January honeymoon to Cape Town.

Carolyn J. Pollard hosted a bridal shower at High Street United Methodist Church in Franklin on July 29.
Mr. and Mrs. Westbrook Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Powell, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rabil hosted a shrimp boil at the Cypress Cove Country Club in Franklin on Aug. 11 in the couple’s honor.
