To the Editor:
During the recent summit on climate change in New York, world leaders noted that global warming is a serious threat and that we must act quickly if we want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Fortunately, everyone can help do this simply by eating a vegetarian diet.
According to The Live Earth Global Warming Survival Handbook, “refusing meat” is “the single most effective thing you can do to reduce your carbon footprint.”
Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, the chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, implores people to have at least one meat-free day a week to help halt climate change, but ultimately to go vegetarian. A U.N. report revealed that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars, trucks, trains, ships and planes in the world combined.
If you want to be part of the solution, and help save countless animals as well as the environment, please visit www.GoVeg.com for a free vegetarian starter kit.
