POWHATAN—Southampton High’s Ronnie Powell took three firsts at the Southside District track championship meet in Powhatan on Wednesday.

Powell won the 100-meter dash in 12.16 seconds, 200-meter dash in 25.33 and 400-meter dash in 59.74.

SHS boys who qualified for the region meet were Jeff Raiford, Joseph Miles, Justin McHenry and Brian Draper for the 4- by 800-meter relay team; Gavin Feriancek, Jarvis Staten, Treshawn Chappell and Devine Fenner, 4- by 400-meter relay; Ashton Holland, 400-meter dash; Justin McHenry, 3,200-meter run; and Brian Draper, 800-meter run.

The girls’ 4- by 400-meter relay team placed fifth. Members were Alexzandera Nichols, Jessica Heiser, Megan Owens and Kirstyn Andrew.
