FRANKLIN—A Franklin man died at the scene of a single-vehicle accident at 7:13 p.m. Sunday on northbound Route 671 (General Thomas Highway), according to a Virginia State Police spokesperson.

Daniel Perry Barraclough, 63, was the passenger in a 2005 Ford Thunderbird and reportedly died at the scene. The driver, Mary Ann Barraclough, 55, apparently lost control, ran off the road and struck several trees, maintained Sgt. Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police. The Barraclough’s address is listed as 221 Carrie Drive, Franklin.

Mary Barraclough was flown from the scene to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she is listed as a patient, but her condition was not made available.

State Police said alcohol did not play a factor and safety belts were worn.
