Cora Lee Jones Sharpe

FRANKLIN—Mrs. Cora Lee Jones Sharpe of Hogart Street, Franklin, Va., departed this life on March 30, 2013, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born January 9, 1919 to John and Cora Whitehead Jones in Southampton County, Va.
Mrs. Sharpe was a member of White Oak Spring Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sunday school. She faithfully attended church service until her health declined. She was also a member of Oak Grove Home Missionary Ministry and the Women Eastbound Association. After many years of service, she retired from Birdsong Peanut Company.
Besides her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sharpe; daughter, Susie Sharpe; siblings, Paul Jones, Jim A. Jones, Phillip Jones, Johnnie Jones, Elizabeth J. Hunt, Beatrice J. Banks, Annie L. Jones-Holley and Maggie J. Walton. Her memory will be cherished forever by two brothers, Willie L. Jones and Joe F. Jones; Goddaughter, Katina Bynum and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A homegoing celebration will be held at noon, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at White Oak Spring Baptist Church, 26125 Delaware Road, Franklin, Va., with the pastor, Reverend Melvin Wofford delivering the message of comfort. The committal and benediction is in Southview Cemetery. On the day of service, her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 10 a.m. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm.
