COURTLAND—A Southampton County “Day of Prayer” will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13 on the lawn of Riverdale Elementary School.

Spearheaded by Southampton County Deputy Keith Rose, the schools resource officer, he hopes all churches, parents, teachers and staff will come together in mass prayer.

Rose is also a pastor at Pine Level Baptist Church in Capron and a former police officer with the Franklin department.

“We need to let the schools know – we’re with you and here for you,” he stressed.

He said that people in the community invested in him when he was a youth growing up here and he wants to do the same.

“I deal with the kids and the parents and see the pressure teachers are under,” he explained.

He’s calling on the 72 churches in the area to participate in this mass prayer and come together as a community.
