Isle of Wight school board member apologizes for e-mails

To the Editor:

To each and every one of you, individually and collectively, I apologize.

Please forgive me for failing you in what you expect of me.

My forwarding of various e-mails of what I thought “interesting,” as received from multiple sources and sometimes sent to others, that were hurtful to some was not in keeping with my character as you know me. This is especially true considering the principles I have lived by during my life. There was no intention or motivation on my part to be inappropriate or to be discriminatory against anyone in forwarding some emails, of hundreds I receive. I do need to be, and will be, more thoughtful henceforth.

My record of public service and my past professional career shows every evidence of standing strong for those in need of support on various issues they face regardless of their race, sex, creed, etc., even when faced with great adversity (personally) in doing so. I will continue to act to assist those who need support and promote what is best for all of our citizens, regardless of who they are.
