Holt team garners first in bass tourney

GASBURG, VA.—The team of Matt Holt and Bob Holt took first place of round seven of the Three Rivers Bass Tournament Series at Lake Gaston on May 19.

Launching from Peahill Creek Landing, the winning team caught five bass that weighed a total of 14.62 pounds.

The team of Joey Scott and John Edwards took second place with a total weight of 12.65 pounds, followed by Scott Hewett in third place with 11.77 pounds, then Greg Harmon and Reggie Rush in fourth and Keith Vick and K.J. Vick in fifth.

H.J. Vick caught the heaviest bass of the day at 6.23 pounds.

The Club’s next members-only tournament will be on June 1 at the Franklin City boat landing. There will be an Open-to-the-Public Big Bass Challenge tournament on July 13.

The July 13 tourney is launched from Highway 258 boat landing on the Nottoway River. The fishing times are 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the morning registration ending at 5:45 am. The Big Bass Challenge is when teams compete to catch the heaviest bass at three separate weigh-in times. The teams have about two hours to catch what they feel is a big bass then return to the weigh station at a designated time, then go back out and try to catch another bass for the next weigh-in. Registration fee is $40 per boat with a maximum of two people in a boat.
