SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY- The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several burglaries and is seeking help from the public.

On Thursday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 25, the Sheriff’s Office received reports of burglaries to the Gilfield Baptist Church in the 9000 block of Doles Road in the Ivor area of the county. On June 20, the church office door was forced open and the safe was tampered with. On June 25 a back door to the church was broken into and the following was taken — three wireless microphones, a sound mixing board and an IPOD docking station.

Also, on June 25, a residential burglary in the 30000 block of Cypress Bridge Road, Newsoms was reported. The burglary is believed to have occurred between 5:30 and 10:30 a.m. Entry was made through the back door by breaking a glass out. A television and a handgun were taken in this burglary.

A neighbor observed a late model burgundy car similar to a Chevrolet Malibu in the driveway during the time period of the burglary. The vehicle in question is likely to have a dent or scrape, as it was damaged when striking a fence leaving the scene of the Newsoms residence.

Another incident that took place Thursday, June 13 on Cypress Bridge Road, involved larceny of golf clubs from an open garage.
