To the Editor:

I am writing to comment on your July 21 article titled “Councilman delinquent on city taxes.”

Councilman Greg McLemore is certainly not by himself.

According to the City of Franklin delinquent tax website, there is a daycare business in the city whose delinquent real estate taxes are over $10,000. Why would the city continue to issue the licenses and permits necessary to run this business? Why isn’t there an all-out effort by City Hall to collect the thousands of dollars owed?

This, in my opinion, is an insult to hardworking taxpayers who save and scrimp and go without to pay our taxes and pay them on time.

Wonder how long it will be before the website is removed?
