James and Kay Vargo of Boykins, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Lynn Vargo, of Jarratt, Va., to Gregory Adam Byers, of Jarratt, Va. Adam is the son of Gregory and Pam Byers and Roy and Connie Moss, all of Emporia, Va.

Kelly is the granddaughter of Lona Edwards and the late Norman Edwards of Franklin, Va., and the late John and Josephine Vargo of Courtland, Va. Adam is the grandson of Nina Armstrong and Billy Griffith of Littleton, N.C., Ronald Stewart, and Peggy Byers and the late Gene Byers, all of Emporia, Va.

Kelly is employed as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Dept. at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center in Emporia, Va., and at Emporia Medical Associates in Emporia, Va. Adam is employed as an EMT with Lifestar Ambulance Service in Emporia, Va., and as a carpenter with Grizzard Construction Co. in Jarratt, Va.

The 5 o’clock wedding is planned for Sept. 7th at The Short Farm in Purdy, Va., with reception to follow at the Golden Leaf Commons in Emporia, Va.
