Sheriff’s office seeks leads in home invasion

The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office is still seeking information for the home invasion that occurred on July 2.
Missing motorcycle
Major Gene Drewery, with the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, said the department has received information regarding the incident, which has led to discovering a person of interest. Drewery said he would like to strengthen the evidence before they release the name of the suspect or make an arrest.
Phillip Everette, 67, was the victim of a break-in at his doublewide trailer in Southampton Meadows. A burglar broke in to the residence through a window on the back door. During the invasion, Everette was struck in the head. He was later treated and released from Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Missing four-wheeler
Everette could not identify any attributes of the burglar, who took a large amount of cash.
The sheriff’s office is also seeking information on a four-wheeler and motorcycle that were taken from a residence on Bethany School Road sometime from July 5-7.
There are no suspects for the theft incident at this point, and the sheriff’s office is looking for details. Anyone with information on either crime can call 653-2100 or the Franklin/Southampton County Crime line at 653-2900.
