To the Editor:
On Aug. 7, on my way to Suffolk from the Holland area, my son had a seizure in the car. I panicked and pulled into the parking lot of Hillcrest Baptist Church. My hands were so badly that I couldn’t call 911. Not knowing what to do, I ran out onto Route 58, screaming and gesturing for help. Two ladies pulled into the parking lot. Their names were Valerie and Neda (Nita) (sp?). Ms. Valerie called the rescue squad and Ms. Neda helped me calm down my son until the ambulance arrived.
I cannot tell you how grateful I am to those two ladies who took the time to help what appeared to be a crazed woman standing on Route 58.
I also want to thank the pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church and one of his members, Linda, I think, who offered me help, prayers and asked if I needed gas money.
I often pass by Hillcrest Baptist on my way to Newport News and each time I look over the cross and am so grateful for all the help I received that day. I feel that God directed me to this church.
May God bless each of you for your compassion!
