Gladys B. Holt

FRANKLIN – Gladys Bradshaw Gay Holt, 96, a resident of Hickory Hill Assisted Living since April 2006, died September 3, 2013. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Almyra Jannet Bradshaw. She was a lifelong member of Black Creek Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for TEL class and a choir member. She was a buyer for the Boys Department at Leggett’s Department store, a member of Black Creek Home Demonstration Club, and a Pink Lady for Southampton Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde W. Gay, second husband, Andrew J. Holt, six sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Emma Gay Brothers and husband, Henry, of Prattville, AL; one stepson, Frank Holt of Orlando, FL; one granddaughter, Kimberly B. Smith and her husband, Ken, of Fayetteville, GA; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Ross Smith; one sister, Doris B. Stephenson, of Windsor, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 9, 2013, Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory Kitts and Rev. Willis Switzer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday at Wright Funeral Home.
