EASTVILLE—The Dukes made the trip to the Eastern Shore to face-off with the Northampton Yellowjackets and brought back a win to Windsor. This is the Dukes first win of the season and a very uplifting one for a team that has nursed a few injuries.
Right from the kickoff, the Dukes set the tempo of the game by driving the ball down to the Yellowjackets 2-yard line. From there Lance Sexton scored on a quarterback sneak. During Northampton’s first possession of the game, Malcolm Greene intercepted a pass and ran for 5 yards into the end zone, giving the Dukes a 14-0 lead early on.
The Dukes continued to keep the pressure on the Yellowjackets and eventually forced a fumble. Tyler Fontenot recovered the fumble and Caleb Dundlow scored the touchdown on the next drive. The Dukes led 21-0 at the half.
Justice Chapman of Windsor scored in the 3rd quarter off of an 8-yard run. The last score for the Dukes was on a 50 yard pass from Sexton to Dundlow. All extra points were kicked by Tyler Fontenot.
The Windsor Dukes executed well in all phases of the game; offense, defense, and special teams, said head coach Chuck Parrish. They will be able to take this win back home and build off the momentum. “This was a great win for our team,” said Parrish. “And a great win for our program.”
