Windsor Dukes lose close one to Eagles 32-28

EMPORIA—The Dukes tried to play spoiler to Greensville County’s homecoming game, but came up short in a close match 32-28.

In the first quarter, the Dukes struck first with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Sexton to Greene, and the Sexton made a 2-point conversion on a pass to Chapman.

The Eagles countered with a 6-yard touchdown run by Gallemore, but they had the extra point blocked. Windsor scored once more on a 35-yard pass from Sexton to Stocks, followed by a 2-point conversion pass to Dundlow.

The second quarter was Greensville’s, starting with a 1-yard touchdown run by Squire and a 2-point conversion run by him, too. Jordan of Greensville had a 20-yard touchdown run with a 2-point conversion run by Gallemore. It was 22-16 Greensville at the half.

In the third quarter, Greensville’s Gallemore had a 21-yard touchdown run with the extra point by Butler. Windsor answered with a 48-yard run by Stocks and a failed 2-point attempt.

During the fourth quarter, Greensville scored on a 32-yard field goal by Butler. The last score of the game belonged to Windsor, with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Sexton to Dundlow. The 2-point conversion attempt was a failed pass. The final score was 32-28 Greensville.

Windsor (1-6) will face Southampton High School (1-6) this upcoming week at home.
