Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Standahl, of Franklin announce the engagement of their daughter, Christine Elizabeth Standahl, to Jonathan David McClain.

Jonathan is the son of the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Gregory McClain of Lillington, N.C.

Christine is the granddaughter of Mary Belle Gaylord of Williamston, North Carolina, the late William Bruce “Hack” Gaylord, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Roy Standahl.

Jonathan is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel McClain of Anderson, S.C., Mrs. Virginia Blackwell of Lancaster, and the late Rev. Johnny Blackwell.

Christine is a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and North Carolina State University, with degrees in International Studies and Biological Science.

She is a third-year student at the University of Virginia Medical School.

Jonathan is a graduate of Harnett Central High School and North Carolina State University, where he holds both an undergraduate and a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is a systems engineer with iAutomation.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in the Chapel of Franklin Baptist Church.
