FRANKLIN—The Franklin Broncos (10-1) are gearing up to face the Rappahannock Raiders (8-3) in round 2 of the Virginia Division 1A playoffs today at Armory Field at 7 p.m.

“We’ve been having a great week of practice, a great week,” said Head Coach Darren Parker. “We’re looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd this Friday against Rappahannock.”

Parker said the Raiders are a disciplined team that runs multiple offensive sets.

“They are going to throw the ball,” he said. “Rappahannock has a very talented group of receivers they have been throwing to all year.

“They do have a running game, so we have to watch out for that,” he continued. “As coaches, however, we’ve been scheming against the pass.”

On the defensive side of the ball, Parker said that the Raiders are a “very scrappy team.

“They do a lot of blitzing,” he continued. “We have to set the offense up to prepare for the blitz.

“The kids have seen the tape, and we’ve done a lot of film work in setting up the plan, as coaches. It’s the kids job to execute the plan now. That’s worked for us in the past, and we’re not looking to change. The kids are locked in. The coaches are locked in.”

Parker said he was looking forward to fans packing the stadium tonight.

“Every Friday we get a chance to play at home is awesome,” he said. “We have a very supportive group of fans, and I thank them for that.

“God is always awesome.”
