FRANKLIN—Officials at Enviva Pellets are still assessing the cause of the fire early Wednesday morning at the plant, according to Elizabeth Woodworth, director of marketing and communications.

She confirmed that around 2:30 a.m., a fire erupted in the pellet processing system.

“Our Enviva operators took immediate and appropriate action and called the local fire department,” said Woodworth. “We are very grateful for the rapid and professional response of fire departments from Franklin, Courtland, Newsoms and Hunterdale.”

The fire was under control by 5 a.m.

There were no injuries, which was most important, she added.

Any damage is also being reviewed, but no significant downtime or loss was expected.

“Any apparent smoke from the plant is process steam and not fire related,” Woodworth continued.
