Bowl-a-Thon strikes a success

FRANKLIN—The annual Paul D. Camp Community College / Franklin Rotary Club Bowl-a-Thon raised a projected $23,000 for local charity.

“I thought it was a great day,” said Rhonda Stewart, executive director of the Village at Woods Edge, and one of the event’s organizers. “I think people had a lot of fun.
“The money will go back into the community, to charities and scholarships. It’s the most successful Bowl-a-Thon we have ever had, and that’s in large part to our business sponsors.”
The Rotarian who collected the most money was Frank Rabil, who raised $2,200.
“The entire community really pitched in though,” Stewart said. “It was a great community effort.”
The event had 18 teams, which each consisted of five people. The winning team, which won the $750 prize, was from Lipton Tea. They scored 3,309 points over 3 rounds, which is an average of 220.6 points a game per person. A perfect game is 300 points.
The female high score went to Jennifer Sulin, of the Paul D. Camp Community College team, who scored 705 points. J.D. Vann, who bowled for the bowling alley team, was the male high set winner with 724 points.
