HAMPTON ROADS—Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews have begun treating area interstates and primary routes with materials in preparation for the wintry mix of sleet and snow moving into the area this afternoon.
As snow begins to accumulate, the roadways will be plowed. Crews will focus on snow removal efforts on interstates and primary roads, and then shift resources to secondary roads as conditions improve.
VDOT Hampton Roads’ District has over 300 pieces of equipment for snow- and ice-control activities, and supplies have been replenished from earlier winter events.
Motorists are advised to slow down and give equipment operators the right of way for their safety and yours and only drive if absolutely necessary.
