FRANKLIN—A Franklin man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing his roommate in the hand on Sunday evening.
The incident began as a result of an argument between the victim, Darren Patty, 50, of the 700 Block of N. High Street, and the suspect, Eric Michael Duran, 30, of the same address, who was found to be highly intoxicated, said Sioux Johnson, media relations spokeswoman for the Franklin Police Department. Duran is alleged to have retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim once in his left hand.
Patty was treated and released from Southampton Memorial Hospital. Duran was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with malicious wounding and remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond.
