How Western Tidewater division schools rank in SOLs

2013-2014 Ranking of Divisions by SOL Scores

WINDSOR—Isle of Wight County Public Schools’ overall Standards of Learning pass rates increased from 80.3 percent to 81.4 percent; Southampton County dropped from 74.27 percent to 73.6 percent; and Franklin rose from 57.7 percent to 59.4 percent. These figures are obtained by combining the overall rates across the board of Math, English, Science and History and Social Science.

Isle of Wight County moved up from No. 26 in the state to No. 19; Southampton dropped from No. 72 to No. 83; and Franklin rose from No. 132 to No. 131. There are 132 schools in the state.

The top school in the state, Falls Church City, has an overall pass rate of 91.2, and the No. 2 school in the state, West Point, is just behind Falls Church at 91 percent.

Filling out the top five are Loudoun County, Poquoson City, tied at No. 3 with a pass rate of 86.2 percent; and Roanoke County at No. 5 at 85.2 percent.

Isle of Wight County compares near Chesapeake City, which has an overall pass rate of 81.6 percent and is at No. 18; and Stafford County at 81.2 percent in position 20.

Southampton County is tied for No. 83 with Smyth County at 73.6 percent. Greene County is No. 82, with a pass rate of 73.8. No. 85 is Page County with a rate of 73.4. Surry County sits at 73.4 percent in position 86. Suffolk City ranks in position 89 with a pass rate of 72.8 percent.

Richmond City is in position 129 with an overall pass rate of 60 percent. Martinsville City ranks at position 130 with a rate of 59.6. In position 132 is Petersburg City, with a pass rate of 57.6 percent.

Sussex County is in position 127 with a rank of 63 percent. Greensville County is in position 111 with a pass rate of 67.6.

In Franklin, the overall pass rate across all subjects at Franklin High School is approximately 78 percent. In J.P. King the rate was 59, and S.P. Morton, not factoring science and history at the elementary level because all of the data was not provided, the rate was 36.

In Southern Isle of Wight County, Carrsville Elementary leads with a rate of approximately 92, Windsor High and Georgie D. Tyler Middle schools are tied with an 85 percent pass rate overall. Windsor Elementary has an overall pass rate of 83. These figures do not consider Smithfield High School, Smithfield Middle School, Hardy Elementary, Westside Elementary and Carrolton Elementary.

Southampton High School led the way for SCPS with an overall pass rate of approximately 88 percent; Nottoway Elementary 81 percent; Meherrin Elementary 76 percent; Capron Elementary 74 percent; Riverdale Elementary 67 percent and Southampton Middle School 61 percent.
