Windsor-It was Homecoming at Windsor High School on Friday night and the stands were so filled up that many spectators had to settle for spots on the grounds. They all cheered and celebrated as the Dukes gave the home fans what they all wanted, a 34-0 out-of-division VHSL win.

The visiting Division 1A Yellowjackets of Northampton County never had a chance, as Dukes running back Breon Stocks had a field day. He scored the first 3 touchdowns early in the 1st quarter to set the stage for the Dukes offensive power. Stocks scored his first 2 touchdowns on runs of 1 and 13 yards respectfully. Jacob Watson connected on both extra points kicks to give the home team a 14-0 lead.

On the Yellowjackets next possession, they fumbled the ball and the Dukes Devawn Cosbert recovered it.

Back on O, the Dukes Stocks escaped all tacklers and crossed the pay line on a 38-yard run. Watson booted the extra point for a 21-0 lead.

Entering the 2nd quarter of play, Dukes quarterback Keshawn Reid took to the air and connected on a 31-yard touchdown pass to Malcolm Greene. The Watson kick was good to increase the Windsor lead to 28-0.

The Dukes last score of the half and the game came with 2:17 remaining on the clock. From 16 yards out, Reid on a quarterback keeper got the final points of the game. That’s because the Watson extra point attempt missed its mark, but the Dukes still sailed into halftime up 34-0.

The 2nd half was played quickly and scoreless for both teams with a running clock and many fresh jerseys showing for the home team.

In remarks after the game, Dukes Head Coach Chuck Parrish said, “We had a bye week, and we were concerned about how our guys would come out to play, but I thought our guys came out and played well. We got to scoring early as we did a good job on kick off return to set the tone.”

Parrish wasn’t just proud of his offense.

“We got a shutout, and a shutout is a shutout, and it was a great job by our kids,” he said. “We made a couple of mistakes, but we are 2 and 1 and that is great.”

The Dukes had a total of 330 yards on the ground and 1 pass for 31 yards. Breon Stocks led in rushing with 11 carries for 127 yards.

The Dukes will be on the road next week as they travel to Brunswick.
