ISLE OF WIGHT—The Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors agreed to raise water rates for homeowners who irrigate during the summer.

After a public hearing Thursday night that resulted in no comments from residents, the board voted unanimously to raise rates by 50 cents per 1,000 gallons after the first 6,000 gallons.

Residents will continue to pay a flat fee of $60 only on amounts below 6,000 gallons. However, the fee will be changed from $5.25 to $5.75 per 1,000 gallons after that.
