On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Southampton Middle School had our first basketball game since the middle school sports program was re-instated last spring after a 23-year lapse. We are striving to develop an athletics program as a part of fulfilling our mission to open the Doors of Excellence for all students.
Last May there was a Middle School Intrasquad football game, fondly called the Red/White Game. This school year, Girls Basketball has started with a bang. They have played three games, to date.
As we work to educate the whole child, we are utilizing sports to give students the desire to attend school and become productive student athletes; just one of our goals of the newly-formed Southampton Athletic Alliance.
The excitement of school spirit has been overwhelming. We look forward to the remainder of this season. The girls also played a home game on Wednesday, Oct. 29, against Sussex. The following two Wednesdays are scheduled to be game days for the girls, with local rivals Franklin, having first a home game and then away the next week. Please feel free to come out and support our area youth!
Games are scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start time.
