WINDSOR
During its Tuesday meeting, Windsor town council agreed to appropriate $6,000 for a ground water withdrawal permit.

Town Manager Michael Stallings explained that residents get their water from two wells, and to do so there must be a valid permit from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. This year it’s time to renew that permit.

The application paperwork is ready, and Stallings said he just needed the OK for the funds, which would come from the unappropriated fund balance of the water fund.

In other business, discussion continued about installing a flag pole. At the last meeting, the town manager reported a quote of $18,702 for an 80-foot-tall pole and a 20 by 30-foot flag, which could be bought from Eastern Shore Flagpoles in Maryland.

Council asked for more research, so Stallings got a $15,806 quote for a 70-foot pole and a 15 by 20-foot flag from the same business. A Virginia Beach company can provide an 80-foot pole for $17,300; and $14,257 for a 70-foot pole.

The purchase and placement are next to be considered.
