Anne Glynn Ward

COURTLAND—Anne G. Ward passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 63.

A lifelong native of this area, she was the daughter of the late Helen and Joe Glynn of Portsmouth. She was also predeceased by her dear brothers, Johnny and Paul Glynn; and a niece, Alicia Glynn.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 29 years, Al Ward of Courtland; her two children, Michael and Sara; her step-daughter Tara Munoz; her two sisters, Karen Grinnan (George) and Helen Sayler (Mike); and her brother, Tim Glynn. Other relatives include her nephew, Chris Darden; and her nieces, Marni Jakubek, Kelly Adams, Leslye Murtha and Katie and Erin; her mother-in-law, Ellen Ellis; sisters-in-law, Lou Ann Wright (David), Renae Powers (Dennis) and Lisa Williams (Robert); brothers-in-law, Johnny Ward (Bettie) and Michael; 13 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a special great-nephew; and a special friend, Darlene Nixon.

She was an avid bowler in Franklin and she enjoyed the competitive nature of the sport, and at the same time she enjoyed the many friendships she made along the way. She loved to play cards, traveling to the mountains and was a friend to all.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, in Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
