Chancellor of Virginia’s Community Colleges Dr. Glenn DuBois will be at the Regional Workforce Development Center of Paul D. Camp Community College today, April 29, from 3 to 4:15 p.m. to receive input on workforce training needs from the business community.

“Experts estimate that half of the jobs filled over the next 10 years will be for people who have a licensure, an apprenticeship or some type of certification, rather than the traditional college degree,” said Randy Betz, PDCCC vice president of Workforce Development. “These types of jobs will be in high demand.”

Legislation that passed in the General Assembly this year tasked the VCCS with the creation of a plan that will address prioritization of credentials and ways to increase them so that the state may become more competitive with other states. However, the chancellor needs input from all regions in the state in order to begin this process.

Paul D. Camp is only one of 17 stops on this statewide Town Hall Meeting tour. The events will not only reveal insight to workforce needs in the surrounding communities, but to also identify partners who share the same cause.

Business, industry, legislative and community leaders are invited to participate in the meeting.
