Relay committee sends thanks for support

To the Editor:

On behalf of Relay For Life of Franklin-Southampton, I would like to thank the community for their support of this year’s event.

We began with the Survivor Dinner on May 30 and ended with Relay on June 6 in support of honoring and remembering our loved ones who have had to hear the words “You have cancer.”

There are so many people involved in making this event a success each year that I know I would forget someone if I tried to list everyone. We have teams, volunteers, sponsors, businesses who give monetary and/or in-kind support and, of course, the event leadership team who works endlessly to plan and execute the event.

There is one group that I would like to give a special shout out to and that is Boy Scout Troop 17. Without them we could not put this event on. Anything that we ask of them they do and always with a smile on their faces. We all have family and friends who have been affected by cancer and Relay For Life is one way of supporting the fight in hope that one day there will be a cure.

The event may be over but the work continues and before long we will be planning next year’s event.

Thank you for helping us continue the fight to “Give Cancer the Boot!”
