A 50-year-old Franklin man was allegedly struck in the face by a homeless woman as he was asleep in his South Street home, said Capt. Timothy Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.
The suspect, Jerlean W. Brown, 62, was still on the scene when officers arrived at 1:32 a.m. on July 3. She was charged with malicious wounding and remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
