The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary where lottery tickets valued at $1,753 were stolen from the Exxon Mobil gas station in Drewryville.
Detective Camden Cobb, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said deputies responded to the 12000 block of Southampton Parkway in the early hours of Monday morning for a report of a broken window. It was determined after authorities arrived that the burglary occurred.
Cobb said that one suspect, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves, was captured on the store’s surveillance cameras. There is no further information about the suspect at this time.
Investigators from the Virginia lottery are assisting the sheriff’s office with the incident, and have indicated to Cobb that some of the stolen tickets were redeemed at convenience stores in Richmond.
