FRANKLIN
Travis Felts, former Franklin High School principal, began his new work in the central office on Monday as coordinator of Pupil Personnel, Testing and Instruction of Franklin City Public Schools.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity,” Felts said. “It will be quite different from what I am used to, and I know I will deeply miss the relationships I have with the students and teachers at FHS. However, I have decided that this is what is best for me and my family at this time.”

The transfer comes after the Franklin City School Board on July 22 announced that Felts would be changing positions in the city school system.

Felts added that he is very appreciative to have an opportunity to help and improve all three of Franklin’s schools, and is 100 percent dedicated in helping everyone involved in the school system be successful. Felts said how much he enjoyed his last job, and that he has high hopes for the future of FCPS.

“It has been an absolute honor to lead my alma mater and work with the most supportive and dedicated staff that I could ask for,” Felts continued “I would like to thank the students, parents and community members for their support. All of the progress we have made and the many successes we have achieved are because of everyone’s hard work and dedication. I am proud of what we have accomplished and of what we will accomplish together in the future. I am convinced that the best is yet to come for Franklin City Public Schools”

Dean of Students Darren Parker has also made a transfer. He has moved from his job as part-time teacher and dean of students at FHS to Assistant Principal at J.P. King Middle School on Monday.

“I feel great about the position and I am really looking forward to doing great things at J. P. King Middle. I had the pleasure of starting to work with the school this summer and I am ready to continue working with Principal Lisa Francis and everyone else over here. I’m also looking forward to pushing the school and students into working as an even stronger team.” Parker is also the summer school coordinator and head football coach at FHS.
