The Franklin-Southampton Concert Association has finalized the upcoming schedule for its 2015-2016 season, which will feature two familiar guests.

First, the Walter Noona Trio will return to the area and play on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3:30 p.m. Through the annual courtesy of the Camp Foundation, the Virginia Symphony is slated to perform on Saturday, March 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

These two performances are in addition to five new acts.

“The Wonderful Wizard of Song” is about Harold Arlen, who wrote for Broadway and movies, such as “The Wizard of Oz.” The life and music of this American songwriter will be presented on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m.

If you’re a fan of PBS, then you’ve likely seen Ethan Bortnick on one of the station’s TV specials. The 14-year-old prodigy plays piano and sings as well. He’s scheduled to be in town on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m.

Masters of Soul, formerly known as Masters of Motown, will celebrate the music of great performers in the history of soul music, such as James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Barry White. That show is set for Saturday, Jan. 9, at 7:30 p.m.

The five-member Presidio Brass will play on Tuesday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. The group will perform a concert of movie music favorites.

Finally, the Virginia Children’s Chorus has been added to the lineup on Sunday, April 10, at 3:30 p.m. The children were to have sung this past season, but inclement weather cancelled the show.

All concerts will be in the auditorium of Southampton High School.

Nancy Rowe, director of the association, urges people to get their memberships in early so that association members can get their work done to prepare for the new season.

“A membership is a bargain as adults pay $50 for seven shows and students pay $10. At the door adults would pay $30, and students $10 for one concert,” she said.
