PORTSMOUTH — Roy Thomas Drake, 72, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 30.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was a loyal NASCAR fan.

Roy is survived by his children, Inger Drake Willett, Roy Kelly Drake, Julie Drake Oglesby (Capt. Douglas B. Oglesby, USN, Washington, D.C.) and Ray Thomas Drake (Macy); seven grandchildren, Jamie Clark, Justin Willett, Christian Drake (Petty Officer Second Class, USN, Bahrain), Rebecca Drake, Madison, Drake and Dayton Oglesby; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian D. Vallejo (Frank), Frances D. Smith and Katherine D. Jenkins (John).

He was predeceased by his three brothers, Earl Drake, Roland Drake and Jessie Drake.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, in Community Church, 1935 Jolliff Road, Chesapeake, by Pastor Pat Harrell, with burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in Loving Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 3, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in honor of Madison Oglesby.
