Calvin F. Wales

WILLIAMSBURG — Mr. Calvin F. Wales of Mt. Vernon Avenue transitioned to his eternal rest on Oct. 30, 2015.

He was born on Oct. 11, 1931, in Colonial Williamsburg to the Rev. Lewis Wellington and Elvin Maude Parker Wales.

Calvin was a graduate of Bruton Heights High School in Williamsburg. Upon graduation, he furthered his studies at Hampton University. Calvin matriculated at Hampton until he was drafted into the United States Army, Airborne division.

In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ernestine Wales Johnson, and brother, Roland A. Wales.

He is survived by one sister, Wilhelmina Z. White and her husband, Harry, of Williamsburg; one brother, Thaddeus S. Wales of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; nieces, Raystine Johnson-Ashburn (Charlie), Cheryl Patterson (James), Linda Nunes (Frederick), Lisa Dennis, and Christina Wales; cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, in Mount Ararat Baptist Church, 401 Franklin St., Williamsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Carl Sweat delivering the eulogy; the Rev. Ventson Robinson Sr., is the pastor.

On the day of service, Calvin’s remains will be placed in church for viewing at 11 a.m. The committal and benediction will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
