Amana M. Hancock

COURTLAND — Amana Magda Hancock, 62, passed away on Dec. 13, 2015, in Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. Amana was born in Franklin and had resided at Central Virginia Training Center in Lynchburg until recently moving to a group home in Disputanta (Triumph Residential Services).

Amana was truly a child of God and a very kind, special lady. She enjoyed music, food, TV and riding in the car.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harry Lee Hancock and Mary Magda Hancock.

She leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Margaret H. “Cookie” Duffey (Terrance) of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Harry L. Hancock Jr. (Jayne) of Richmond, and James C. “Jimmy” Hancock of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; a niece, Katherine H. Yentzer; a nephew, Harry L. Hancock III; a great-nephew, Dalton Corbin Yentzer; and a great niece, Sarah Magda Yentzer.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Tommy Speight officiating. The burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and suggests memorial donations be made to Special Olympics Virginia.
