The Virginia Legends, Virginia’s premier fast-pitch softball organization, announced on Friday that it will host its 8th annual Spring Golf Classic on Friday, May 6.

The Nansemond River Golf Club, 1000 Hillpoint Blvd., and Sleepy Hole Golf Course, 4700 Sleepy Hole Road, both in Suffolk, will host the two- course tournament.

Registration for both courses is $500 per foursome, which includes green fees, boxed lunch, all day beverages and longest drive and closest to the pin contests.

The shotgun-style main event starts at 11 a.m. at Nansemond and 1 p.m. at Sleepy Hole.

“We’re very excited to host the tournament,” Nansemond River Golf Course head golf professional Mark Lambert said. “It’s a great opportunity to get exposure, and the golf course will be in excellent shape.”

All proceeds from the Spring Golf Classic will benefit more than 200 local female student-athletes.

The tournament, hosted by the players and families of the Virginia Legends fast-pitch softball team, will also feature silent auction items, 50/50 raffles, prizes and giveaways.

Sponsorships for both courses are available, with prices ranging from $100 per hole to $2,500 to be a title sponsor.

Donation are also welcomed by the softball organization.

The Virginia Legends have been supporting and developing student-athletes since 1985, and have provided opportunities to players who have been awarded over $4 million in softball scholarships in the past two years alone.
