NEWSOMS—Jean Gray Ivey, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. Ms. Ivey was from Newsoms. She joined her beloved husband of 62 years, George Ralph Ivey. Ms. Ivey was on June 21, 1933. She was the daughter of Berkley Gray and Carrie Drake.

She was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

She was a loving mother to three daughters; Barner Jean Ivey, Teresa Ivey VanDamme (David), and Courtney Ivey, both of Carolina Beach, NC, and grandmother to her “baby boy” Cole Thomas Ivey.

She is also survived by her siblings, Anne Futrell (Roy), Berkley Gray (Mary), Kenneth Gray (Marion), Joe Gray (Phyllis) and Mike Gray.

The funeral will be conducted 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 at Barnes United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Darwin Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Newsoms.

The family will receive friends, Friday from 5:00pm-9:00pm at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
