FRANKLIN — The Rev. Joseph Andrew Vaughan Sr., 84, went to his eternal reward on April 14, 2016. Joe was a native of Hertford County, North Carolina, and was a son of the late Andrew Thomas Vaughan Sr. and Rosa Lee Woodard Vaughan. He was also predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Julia Henderson, Bertha Stevens, Thomas Vaughan Jr. and Robert Vaughan.
Joe was an Army veteran, and was a retired paper inspector on number one paper machine at Union Camp Corporation after 40 years of service. He was a longtime area Pentecostal Holiness minister, a member of High Street Seniors, a former Boy Scout leader with Troop 37 in Carrsville and enjoyed volunteering at the East Pavilion.
Survivors include his wife, the Rev. Dorothy Benson Vaughan; three daughters, Teresa V. Bane, Andrea V. Cox and Dorothy V. Garrett (Jim); one son, Joseph Andrew “Andy” Vaughan, Jr.; 11 grandchildren, C.D. Bane, Spring Harris, Daniel Baggett, Kelly Baggett, Eric Cobb, Robert Cobb, Crystal Blythe, Nikki Babb, Andrew Vaughan, Victoria Brito and Shannon Vaughan; eight great-grandchildren, Becca Vaughan, Emiliano Brito, Meadow, Ryder and Zoey Harris, Daniel and Christopher Baggett and Carlee Babb.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday April 17, in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor James Ashby officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.
