To the Editor:

Two weeks ago Franklin held its election and I had hoped and worked for a different outcome, but it was not to be.

I have been asked by several people how I felt about not being re-elected. Therefore, I took some time to collect my thoughts before writing this letter.

During my reflection I came upon a quote by John Wooden “Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out.” That is just what I intend to do, make the best of how things worked out. As for everyone that was concerned, I am fine.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, supporters and colleagues on City Council. The past four years have been enlightening, sometimes challenging and never a dull moment. I wouldn’t change a thing about the experience.

As a newly retired federal employee and grandmother, I plan to spend more time with my family with a bit of travel in my immediate future.

As for my beloved City of Franklin, I will continue to advocate for its growth, longevity and prosperity.

As I move forward I know what I’ve always known, I will always be involved in community service. Not just because I think it is important, but because it is something I enjoy and look forward to. I love bringing joy and through community service I feel I can accomplish that. I hope to inspire others to go out in our community and make a difference. I hope that in some small way my service has encouraged at least one person to volunteer their time, even if your reward is only a handshake, hug or a smile. See you out there in the trenches.
