Community members are encouraged to attend the upcoming Relay For Life of Franklin/Southampton County that will take place in the coming days.

“We want this to be a community event,” Cindy Cotton said. “The walk is not just for the teams, we want everyone to come out.”

The walk is on Saturday, June 4, at Armory Field. The theme this year is “Paint the World Purple through the Decades,” and each hour of the walk will be dedicated to a decade starting with the 1940s.

“The music played and the activities scheduled with be themed around that particular decade,” Cotton said.

The different teams will have their own station where they will be selling cotton candy, ice cream, baked goods and things of that nature. Each team will also be accepting donations throughout the entire event.
