FRANKLIN
Fourth of July events will begin a tad early this year, with the first celebrations taking place in Boykins and Carrsville on Saturday, July 2.

Boykins will be hosting an Independence Day carnival at the recreational park from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a dunking booth, free games and prizes.

Carrsville will also join the festivities early with their 31st annual Community Day, from noon to dusk on Saturday at the Knight Memorial Park.

On the Fourth, Sedley will host a Veteran’s Recognition Program at 10 a.m. in Sedley Baptist Church, organized by the Sedley Women’s Club. Navy veteran and Pastor Armand Jalbert of Newsoms Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. There will be patriotic music, light refreshments and group photo opportunities for veterans. All veterans, active duty military and their families are invited.

Newsoms will host a Fourth of July parade at 5 p.m.

Windsor will celebrate with a robust calendar of events, with the fifth annual car show, beginning at 5 p.m. Awards are expected to be made at 7 p.m. The Windsor Youth Foundation will also be providing bounce houses for younger attendees in front of Windsor High School. The Woman’s Club of Windsor will present the annual children’s patriotic parade at 6 p.m., also in front of Windsor High School, traveling down Church Street toward the library. Also at 6 p.m., Island Boy will play live music at the gazebo in front of the library.

Free dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Residents are asked to bring desserts to share with other attendees.

The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at nightfall.
