Locals celebrate Independence Day

WINDSOR
Residents in Western Tidewater communities celebrated Independence Day with neighbors, friends and family. Several towns had their own holiday celebrations, including Windsor and Boykins, which each had great turnouts over the weekend.
Good friends mean good times. Some of the young adults in the community enjoyed the day together.
Boykins kicked off its event with a carnival on Saturday afternoon, which included — but was not limited to — a dunking booth, free games and prizes. Fireworks were lit later that night.
Windsor had its holiday gathering on Monday with a wide variety of events. The annual car show started the afternoon off, with bounce houses for the youth to enjoy. The community also had the annual children’s patriotic parade, sponsored by the Windsor Woman’s Club. Music was performed by Island Boy. Several residents enjoyed dinner and dessert together at the gazebo, and then watched the the fireworks display that night.
Other Western Tidewater communities, like Carrsville and Sedley, had celebrations during the holiday weekend as well that lasted all day on Monday.
