FRANKLIN — Robert Dralle “Bob” Heeren, 87, went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2016.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carol; and one brother.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Caroline Scott of Gresham, Oregon; his son, Paul and wife, Sandra, of Sedley; and one granddaughter Autumn, whom he adored.

He was known to his friends and family as Bob. Bob received his B.S. in forestry from Rutgers University and a master’s degree from Duke University. Bob was the Hardwood Management coordinator for Union Camp and retired in 1996.

He was a captain in the U.S. Army from 1948-1950, and was in the Army Reserves and National Guard from 1950-1989. In 1952, Bob served as a Smoke Jumper in Missoula, Missouri. He was a member of the SAF and a Registered Forester. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, served as a Scout Master District Commander; he was an Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver recipient.

Bob was a Mason with the local lodge No. 151; he served as District Deputy Grand Master of Masons in Virginia and Past Master of the Franklin Lodge.

Bob shared his love for reading with the kids at S.P. Morton Elementary School in the Book Mice program. He also was a volunteer at East Pavilion where he read to the residents and helped with other activities. Bob loved helping people and he took great joy in being able to serve with many organizations and help when or wherever he was needed.

He was a resident at The Village at Woods Edge and was known as the resident card sender.

The celebration of his life will be in Wright Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 19, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Elks officiating. Masonic rites and military honors will be accorded at the funeral home.

A reception will follow at The Village at Woods Edge. All other times the family can be reached at 30109 Sycamore Ave., Sedley.
