As of press time on Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Wakefield predicted that Tropical Storm Hermine will bring several inches of rain to the area that could produce flash flooding and strong wind gusts through Saturday evening. However, at that time, they were not expecting any river flooding in Western Tidewater with the storm.

Although the eye of the storm is not expected to hit the area, storm-like weather conditions are forecasted for Western Tidewater. From Friday to Saturday night, the meteorologists are expecting the area to receive an average of four to five inches of rain that could cause some road closures due to flash flooding. The winds are predicted to be sustained at 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45 mph.

Weak trees and limbs could fall due to these conditions and spotty power outages are possible.
