Isle of Wight County Public Schools and offices have gone from a delayed opening caused by intense weather to staying closed today, Sept. 22.

The announcement made on Wednesday night was initially for a two-hour delay to begin classes.

Lynn Briggs, spokeswoman, stated in an emailed release at 7:09 this morning that hazardous road conditions required the decision.
“We will continue to monitor the weather and roads and will provide updates as they are received,” she stated. “Please stay tuned to Connect 5, the division website and all local media outlets for the most up to date information regarding closings and delays.
“The safety of our students remains our number one priority.”
