FRANKLIN
The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office and Fire and EMS departments responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash at 5:01 a.m. Friday in the 13000 block of Courthouse Highway just south of the intersection with Route 620.

The investigation revealed that a 22-year-old male operating a Honda Coupe was traveling north on Courthouse Highway when he lost control and collided with a 37-year-old female operating a Cadillac SUV traveling south.

The driver of the Honda Coupe was transported by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General with serious injuries. The Isle of Wight Rescue Squad transported the driver of the Cadillac SUV to Riverside Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation and Virginia State Police are assisting the sheriff’s office. Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash and more details will be released at a later time.

Courthouse Highway was closed from 5:01-8:27 a.m. Friday.
