FRANKLIN
No one was hurt when shots were fired at an occupied vehicle near North Main Street this past Friday, according to information released by Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin City Police Department.

He stated that officers responded at 7:06 p.m. to Pretlow Street for a report of a vehicle being followed and shot at by a person in another vehicle. The victim, a 22-year-old female resident of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, pulled into the parking lot of the police department where she gave police information about the incident.

“The victim stated that she was in the drive-thru of Hardee’s on East Second Avenue when she and the father of her child, who was in another vehicle, got into an argument,” Whitt stated. “During the argument she observed the suspect, Justin Jamil Hardy, 24, reach for something. Knowing that the suspect possessed a firearm, the victim became scared and fled the restaurant.”

The woman reported hearing two gun shots as she neared North Main Street, but no damage was found to her vehicle and neither she nor her 24-year-old male passenger were injured. She alleged that Hardy threatened to kill her and her companion.

An arrest warrant on the charge of shooting at an occupied vehicle has been made for Hardy, who lives at 130 Hebron Church Road in Woodland, North Carolina.
